One thing

One thing my dad either never learned or forgot is sometimes you just have to check the box and get it done. There are tasks that don’t need perfection and a due date met.  You just get it done and forget about it.

Case in point. He was to change the transfer amount from the trust to his checking account back in January.   Earlier today he told me his was still working on it. For three months to click a few buttons on his computer.  Then he said he wanted to make it cumulative since January so no one knows he waited.

Like wth?  Like he’s gonna get in trouble?  Then I explained to him that it was never about dollars and the change was to keep his primary account balance stable.  Oh?  No joke.   Then he did it in 15 minutes.

He suffers from a perfection complex.  Like he has to prove he’s still got it.  On his A game.  The perfectionist.  Like shit man, you don’t have anything to prove.  You’re an 83 year old man living with Parkinson’s for 12–15 years. His brain has been affected by the disease and the drugs used to manage it.

Abraham Lincoln said you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. At the same time a response pulled together by the googler indicates he is experiencing cognitive decline; exhibiting 8 out of 9 symptoms, in Cognitive decline in Parkinson’s disease often looks different from what people expect. It’s usually less about forgetting names at first and more about changes in thinking, behavior, and social awareness.

When it progresses to Parkinson’s disease dementia, the symptoms become more noticeable and start affecting daily life. to decline in executive functioning.

Do all elderly people exhibit some form of dementia and cognitive decline?  Or do they just not care anymore and they’re tired of conforming to societal norms and standards?  Are they still capable and choose not to?  Or is their mind blown and they just can’t do it anymore?
